Continuing its longstanding reputation as the dog’s champion, the American Kennel Club has announced today that it will soon be opening a center dedicated to daycare, boarding, training, grooming, and walking services for dogs. The organization has signed a multi-year lease at the Durst Organization’s VIA 57WEST building in midtown Manhattan, where it plans to open a 4,000-square-foot pet-care facility.
“The pet-care segment is a very exciting growth segment, and it's a great opportunity for AKC to leverage its credibility, expertise, and history in dog care,” says AKC’s EVP and Chief Growth Officer Alexandra Aleskovsky.
AKC’s chairman Ron Menaker adds that this announcement comes at an exciting time for the nonprofit organization. “As we embark on this endeavor, we embrace a new way to serve dogs and their owners and to increase the continued trust and validity of our organization’s brand,” he says.
The facility is scheduled to open in the fall of 2016. Aleskovsky says that the organization hopes to eventually expand this venture with additional centers around the country.
