The AKC announced today that it will pair up with the American Cancer Society for various events across the country, including the ACS’s Bark For Life fundraisers. During these events, AKC will educate the public on canine health, microchipping, socialization, and the link between canine and human health. The will also host various events and cross promote awareness through their various social media channels.
“Dogs add so much to our lives and even more so when we are dealing with illness or trauma,” says Dennis Sprung, President and CEO of the AKC. “We welcome this opportunity to honor the canine as a caregiver as well as educate the public.”
The American Cancer Society Bark For Life events honor the life-long contributions of canine caregivers and celebrate cancer survivorship, while raising funds for continued groundbreaking research, supporting education efforts, and providing free information and critical services for cancer patients.
“We are honored to be working with the American Kennel Club,” said Maria Clark, SVP, volunteer events, American Cancer Society. “As the largest dog registry in the world, this collaboration offers a strategic opportunity for us to reach a broader audience of new participants as we continue to fight all cancers to save lives and celebrate life.”
Events nationwide will be announced in the coming weeks.
