10-Year-Old Sends Care Packages To War Dogs In Honor Of Grandfather

Dozens of military dogs are getting a nice surprise in the mail, thanks to the philanthropic efforts of 10-year-old Kylie Blake. The Virginia Beach resident has been raising funds to send care packages to working K-9s in honor of her late grandfather, who served in the navy and, like Blake, was a dog lover. He passed away three years ago.

“I love helping animals, and the dogs in the military need help, too,” Blake wrote on her GoFundMe page, where she has raised more than $4,000 toward her project.

Blake, who has two Labrador Retrievers at home, is compiling everything from cooling and warming materials to grooming products to toys and treats. She’s then mailing the care packages to K-9 handlers overseas. Recently, she began working with a local military K-9 units, the Go Fund Me page says.
