Take Part in AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Days

AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Days is back again for its 11th year! We hope you’ll save a date for some time this September to hold a free community event promoting responsible dog ownership.

What is AKC RDO Days? AKC clubs, Canine Good Citizen evaluators, training schools, pet supply stores, and many other groups host fun events for the public to help share the AKC's responsible dog ownership message. In 2012, there were 650 events nationwide in addition to the AKC Flagship event.

All efforts are appreciated and welcomed, from hosting a public education table at a dog show or dog run to creating a day-long festival. Visit the AKC RDO Days website for many more suggestions. The first 600 clubs and organizations that confirm event details with us by August 2, 2013 will receive a resource-filled packet with giveaways and brochures, including pencils, stickers, and car window decals. Events will also be listed and searchable on the AKC RDO Days website.

We hope you'll join us this year -- your participation will help ensure the program's success, benefiting dogs and dog owners everywhere! And, of course, it's a lot of fun to have a day celebrating all things dog! We welcome questions or suggestions -- contact communications@akc.org.
