Road to the AKC National Agility Championship:  Shelby

This week and next, we'll be sharing inspiring stories from competitors headed to the Companion Events Extravaganza in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania March 27th-30th.

First up -- Shelby the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Shelby will be competing in her 2nd AKC National Agility Championship with her owner Tami Rasmussen.

Tami says: One of many neat things about Shelby is that she is a rescue.  Her original owners didn't understand the energy that comes in that cute little Corgi package, and kept her locked up in their kitchen while they worked long  hours at a local hospital. Shelby eventually ate much of the kitchen cabinets and the owners realized they may have bitten off more than they could chew (literally).  So they contacted the Arizona Cactus Corgi Rescue in Phoenix and surrendered her. The rescue then contacted me, as they knew I was looking for an awesome agility dog, and the rest is history. Shelby was around nine months old when I brought her home and she's now four. She earned her Preferred Agility Championship (PACH) in January of this year (YEAH!). The video is from her PACH Standard and Jumpers runs.

Good luck, Shelby and Tami. Hope you run fast and clean!
