The first North America Diving Dogs (NADD) event in the Southeast took place July 26-27 at the lovely Teamworks Dog Training facility in Youngsville, NC.

There were 288 jumps over the weekend with a variety of breeds participating and many titles earned. The longest jump was by a Border Collie at 23' 9".  Equally brave and impressive were the Toy Poodle who jumped 5'9" and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi who jumped 11'.

Breeds included:  All Americans, Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, Boston Terrier, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Cocker Spaniels, Flat Coat Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Spanish Water Dog, Parson Russell Terrier, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Standard Poodle, Toy Poodle, and Tibetan Terrier.

NADD Judge Michele Godlevski, who owns the Teamworks facility, originally installed her dog swimming pond in 2009 as a way to give her agility dogs a source of low-impact exercise. She began offering dock jumping events in 2011 and said the NADD event had the largest turn-out so far.

The AKC recently began recognizing NADD titles. For more information on the program, click here.
