Three Georgia K9 search and rescue organizations - Alpha Team K9 SAR (Fairburn, GA), SAR Dogs of GA (Lafayette, GA) and Georgia Piedmont Region K9 SAR (McDonough, GA) - were honored today for their search and rescue work in a special presentation by Georgia Governor Nathan Deal.
It was especially moving to recognize these amazing dogs on the 12th anniversary of 9/11, in honor of the search and rescue dogs that worked in the aftermath of that disaster.
The three groups received grants from the AKC Reunite Canine Support and Relief Fund to further their training and recovery operations in their efforts to keep Georgia residents safe.
Governor Deal was joined by AKC Delegate and Georgia Canine Coalition President Gail LaBerge, AKC Reunite CEO Tom Sharp and other Georgia fanciers to make the presentation and help spread the word about the important work these dogs and organizations do.
We hope you’ll join us in celebrating their wonderful work!
