The Irish Wolfhound, described as calm, dignified, and courageous, is the tallest of all the dog breeds. But just how tall are they?
They're pretty tall.
Like really, really tall. A male Irish Wolfhound will stand 32-34 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh approximately 120 pounds, so they're not exactly a lap dog.
Irish Wolfhound puppyhood can last a year or more, and puppies can weigh up to 100 pounds. That's a lot of puppy.
And although they have a gentle nature and calm presence...
They need their space to run. Since they're so tall, they can cover a lot of ground quickly, and many excel at events such as lure coursing.
But with big dog comes an even bigger heart.
