The winners of the Sporting, Working, and Terrier groups were awarded on the second night of the 2016 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show presented by Purina® Pro Plan® on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
GCH Vjk-Myst Garbonita's California Journey, a 3-year old German Shorthaired Pointer won the Sporting group, followed by the Clumber Spaniel, the Labrador Retriever, and the Brittany. He is owned by Valerie Atkinson, Alice Manning, and Yvonne Hassler-Deterding and was bred by Alice Manning, Anita Weiss, and Valerie Nunes-Atkinson. Bonnie Threlfall of Cary, North Carolina, judged the group. He is fed Purina® Pro Plan® Sport Performance 30/20 Chicken & Rice.
Judge Norman Kenney of Crossroads, Texas, declared 5-year-old Samoyed GCH Pebbles' Run Play It Again Ham winner of the Working group, followed by the Boxer, the Rottweiler, and the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. He was the first of the breed to win the group at Westminster. He was bred by Amy Kiell Green and is owned by Amy Kiell Green, Andrew Green, Barbara Bruns, and Wolfgang Stamp. He is fed Purina® Pro Plan® Sport Performance 30/20 Chicken & Rice.
In the Terrier group, judge Geir Flyckt-Pedersen named GCH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, a 4-year-old Skye Terrier, the winner, followed by the Border Terrier, and the Wire Fox Terrier. He was bred by Eugene Zaphiris and Matthew Stander and is owned by Victor Malzoni Jr. and Nancy Shaw. He is fed Purina® Pro Plan®SPORT Performance 30/20 Chicken & Rice Formula.
