AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day in New York City, New York
AKC held its third annual "AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day" flagship event on Sunday, September 18 at Madison Square Park in New York City. Although the threat of downpours forced the event to be moved to the designated rain date, AKC RDO Day shined bigger and better than ever before! Thousands of New York City's dog owners viewed agility, police K-9, safety around dogs and grooming demonstrations and had the opportunity to meet members of AKC parent clubs and affiliated rescue groups representing 22 AKC breeds. Low-cost microchipping, Canine Good Citizen testing and the chance to win valuable prizes via a fun, interactive prize wheel drew big crowds, and the first 500 attendees and their canines who visited the AKC booth were treated to goodie bags filled with dog treats, dog food, coupons and much more. On an important note, New York City dog lovers opened their hearts and their wallets to help animal victims of Hurricane Katrina, donating much needed items and making contributions to the AKC/CAR Canine Support and Relief Fund.
