May 9th Update
The American Kennel Club continues to vehemently oppose Assembly Bill 1634, as it still seeks to penalize responsible breeders and owners for a purported problem they are not responsible for. It is critically important that national parent clubs, California clubs, breeders, and concerned dog owners contact the members of the Assembly Appropriations Committee, as well as their personal Assemblymember, and express their opposition to the bill.
Additionally, the Assembly Appropriations Committee will consider AB 1634 at its meeting on Wednesday, May 16th, at 9:00 AM in Rm. 4202 at the capitol in Sacramento. We urge all targeted breeders and owners to attend the meeting and voice your opposition to this bill.
WHAT YOU CAN DO NOW:
- Contact your representative in the California State Assembly and express your fervent opposition to AB 1634. To find your Assemblymember, click here.
- Contact the members of the California Assembly Appropriations Committee who will consider this
bill. Tell them that you strongly oppose AB 1634 as amended by the Business and Professions
Committee on April 24th. For a complete list of committee members, please click here.
ATTENTION CLUBS: It is imperative that clubs send official opposition letters to the committee consultants to ensure your arguments are included in the bill analysis!
