Sundance of Chicago CGC had an exciting summer adventure when he served as ring bearer at the wedding of his owner Andrea Tamillo of Chicago, IL, to Kevin Butts. The wedding was held in Vail, CO, and Sundance, a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix, was extremely well-mannered and a huge hit at the ceremony, Andrea reports.
Sundance is a member of the AKC Canine Partners program for all dogs, including mixed-breeds, and he also holds the AKC Canine Good Citizen title, which shows he has basic obedience and manners training.
More couples are opting to have their canine family members participate in their weddings ceremonies.
If you do opt for this, make sure your dog is well-socialized and does not mind being around crowds, music and strange noises – you want him to enjoy the day too. Also, make sure your wedding site allows pets and let your guests know that a dog will be present in case they have allergies.
Another good idea is to have someone designated to watch your dog and make sure they are taken care of and not lost in the bustle. You might have their crate stationed in a quiet area away from the celebration – or have someone take your dog home before the reception.
