From the July 2012 Board Meeting The Rat Terrier Club of America is the official parent club for the Rat Terrier and to accept the Rat Terrier into the AKC Stud Book on June 1, 2013. The breed will be eligible to compete in the Terrier Group beginning June 26, 2013. There will be an open registry for the breed until July 1, 2018.
From the January 2010 Board Meeting - The Rat Terrier Club of America will serve as the AKC Parent Club to represent the Rat Terrier and will be eligible to compete in the Miscellaneous Class, effective June 30, 2010.
From the May 2006 Board Meeting - It was voted (unanimously) to permit the Rat Terrier to compete in AKC Earthdog Tests, effective September 1, 2006.
From the August 2005 Board Meeting - The Rat Terrier has been approved to compete in AKC Companion Events effective January 1, 2006.
