Norrbottenspets History
The Norrbottenspets is a medium sized hunting dog of Spitz-type, which was thought to be extinct but survived as a farm and hunting dog in the Northern parts of Sweden and Finland.
They were first approved by the Swedish Kennel Club in 1910 then thought to be lost due to the two World Wars.
They were found again during the late 1950's and now have made a come back with the FCI confirming the new breed standard in 1966 and the official name becoming Norrbottenspets. The standard was also accepted in Finland in 1973.
