From the October 2009 Board Meeting – The Leonberger Club of America is the official parent club for the Leonberger and to accept the Leonberger into the AKC Stud Book on June 1, 2010. The breed will be eligible to compete in the Working Group beginning June 30, 2010. There will be an open registry for the breed until January 1, 2012.
From the October 2007 Board Meeting - The Leonberger Club of America will serve as the AKC Parent Club to represent the Leonberger and will be eligible to compete in the Miscellaneous Class, effective July 1, 2008.
From the August 2005 Board Meeting - The Leonberger has been approved to compete in AKC Companion Events effective January 1, 2006.
