  • Will interns be assisted with housing?
    Interns are responsible for arranging and securing housing for the internship period.
  • Do interns need their own transportation?
    For the North Carolina facility it is recommended that you have your own means of transportation. The NY office has public transportation available throughout the city.
  • Can interns work longer than the scheduled eight-week assignment during the summer?
    No.
  • Will time off be available during the internship?
    In order to benefit from this 8-week program we expect to have full participation, though AKC will accommodate emergencies.
  • Are interns paid for holidays and sick time?
    Interns will be paid for company-scheduled holidays. Sick time will be unpaid.
  • Are interns eligible for company benefits?
    As temporary employees, interns are not eligible for company benefits.
  • Is this a paid or non-paid internship?
    The summer program offers interns an hourly wage for the 8-week working period. Students work 37.5 hours per week.
  • Upon graduation will this guarantee fulltime employment with the AKC?
    The internship program is one of many recruiting sources that the AKC uses. While future employment is not guaranteed by participating in this program, it is likely that some former summer interns will come to work for the American Kennel Club.

  • Is the AKC Summer Internship Application only available on-line?
    No. If for any reason you are not able to access the application on-line, please feel free to contact us at interns@akc.org and we will email you an application.
