Summer Intern Program

The AKC Summer Intern Program runs for 8 consecutive weeks during the months of June and July. Students will be selected for paid internships at either the New York headquarters or the Raleigh facility.

The program was created to nurture the professional development of those with a background and interest in the sport while also offering the participants a meaningful and challenging work assignment that complements their academic training and career goals.

"Recruiting and retaining employees with experience in the dog fancy is crucial to the AKC's future," said Ron Menaker, AKC Chairman. "The intern program will help us access the best and the brightest individuals and groom them for careers at the AKC."

The requirements for applicants are:

  • At least 18 years old and enrolled in an accredited four year or two year college.
  • Applicants must have completed their first year of college before beginning the internship.
  • Competitive grade point average.
  • Involvement or profound interest in the fancy.
The admissions process is closed for 2008. Please revisit our website in the fall for information pertaining to the 2009 program.
