- I
have a litter that was born here in Canada. How do I register my
puppies with the AKC?
A litter that was born outside the United States is not eligible for registration with the AKC. You will need to register the puppies with the Canadian Kennel club. After a puppy is individually registered with the CKC, you then need to request an AKC Foreign Registration Application (ADIMPT). You may then submit the application for registration with the AKC. You should contact the Canadian Kennel Club directly for more information.
Note: There are two exceptions to this rule as they apply to AKC recognized breeds. The AKC, under certain circumstances, will register Parson Russell Terrier and Border Collie litters born in Canada. Please contact our Special Registration department for details.
