Provenance
The files of the Club Relations Department have been transferred to the Archives through a series of collections starting in May 2006.

Arrangement
The Club Relation Files are arranged according to their accession number. Each accession number is further arranged alphabetically by name. The following are the series in the collection: (1) 0010506, (2) 0020606.

Biographical Information
The Club Relations department grew out of a need to provide several key items to clubs, such as managing conflict resolution, revision of their constitution and by-laws, and guidance on new clubs. As a result, the AKC collects copious amounts of material from each club including, constitutions and by-law amendments, correspondences, premium lists, and other club related documents.

During several AKC office moves, first from 221 Park Avenue in New York in 1964 to 51 Madison Avenue and finally a move to 260 Madison Avenue and a new building in Raleigh, North Carolina, many Club Relation files have been lost.

Scope and Content
The first series in this collection offers a glimpse at early clubs, some of which are no longer in existence, such as the Boston Terrier Club of New Jersey. Additionally, it also documents the early history of current clubs such as the First Company Governor's Foot Guard Athletic Association. Most of the folders are small, but contain noteworthy items, such as premium lists, correspondences, member lists and occasionally meeting minutes. Premium lists dating from the early 20th century are aesthetically pleasing and offer a wealth of information about the clubs, including officer lists and membership lists.
