Canine Good Citizen
The Canine Good CitizenŽ (CGC) program is a noncompetitive activity that promotes
responsible dog ownership. The 10-step CGC test was passed by 30,000 dogs in 2005.
In support of the AKC commitment to all dog owners, the CGC program was expanded with the addition of CGC classes in 500 PETCO stores. The CGC Evaluator program, in which standards for evaluators were raised, was implemented. Evaluators now take an online test to ensure the quality and integrity of the CGC-test. More than 4,500 evaluators joined the new program. The first CGC Evaluator Awards of Distinction were given. Honorees received an all-expense-paid trip to the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship. Staff has promoted the CGC concept with legislators. In 2005, the legislatures of Delaware, North Carolina, Colorado and Texas adopted AKC Canine Good Citizen resolutions. A total of 25 states have passed CGC resolutions. Information Services Communications Canine Legislation Public Education Club Education Services Canine Good Citizen Publications |
