The Judges Education department promotes the ongoing education of conformation judges through institutes, seminars, and the distribution of printed and online materials.

The AKC Advanced Institute on the Sighthounds was held in May at Raleigh, North Carolina. Experts from parent clubs gave judges valuable hands-on experience and the opportunity to observe sighthounds in the field. The institute was fully enrolled. Through the years, more than 2,000 individuals have attended.

In 2005, the The Judges Education department was moved into the Dog Show Judges division.
