The AKC Information and Education Booth made 90 club presentations throughout the country, hosting more
than 125,000 visitors from the fancy and the general public.
In 2004, a new outdoor booth exhibit, offering attractive tenting that promotes the AKC brand, was a hit at dog shows on
both coasts. New Booth structures purchased in 2004 enabled staff to serve a wide range of venues, indoors and outdoors,
with style and efficiency. This allowed great flexibility when planning appearances, which kept the Booth on schedule and
under budget for another year.
2004 saw expanded Booth outreach to organizations with goals similar to AKC’s, such as the Cat Fanciers Association. The
Booth also supported dog-related educational efforts of teachers, clubs, and veterinarians.
A special stop for the Booth in 2004 was a visit to the Crufts show in England, where its AKC promotions were well
received.
The Booth offers a wide array of materials and services from the Public Education and Canine Legislation departments.
Canine legislation presentations concentrated on local issues at specific shows and homeowners’ insurance issues at all
shows. Ongoing booth successes include the popular ILP Live program; partnering with local clubs to present dog show tours
and educational programs for the public; and the sale of new AKC products, as well as AKC books and publications.
The AKC Banner program, completing its third year, coordinates the display of AKC-logo banners and signage at dog shows
and events. The program increases AKC visibility with spectators and the media. Club Educational Service staff works with
clubs, major dog-food companies, and show photographers to design and display banners with updated logos in conjunction
with their banner programs.
